Cardiac CT Angiogram Scan $499
Oklahoma Heart Institute offers a cardiac CT angiogram scan that is more than 95 percent sensitive in detecting heart disease. This painless imaging test shows exactly where your blockages are and how severe they are in just seconds. This means easy and early detection of heart disease.
What is a cardiac CT angiogram scan?
A cardiac CT angiogram scan is a computerized tomography (CT) coronary angiogram imaging test that looks at the arteries that supply blood to your heart. This painless imaging test shows exactly where your blockages are and how severe they are in just seconds. It also detects disease in the heart arteries before significant blockages occur, adding a new level of sophistication when doctors estimate a person’s future risk of heart attack.
Who should have a cardiac CT angiogram scan?
Anyone 40 years or older with symptoms concerning for heart disease or for those who have risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a history of smoking or a family history of heart disease.
What is the difference between the cardiac CT angiogram scan and the coronary calcium CT scan?
The cardiac CT angiogram scan shows the inside of the coronary arteries and detects whether plaque (a buildup of cells, debris, calcium and cholesterol within the artery) is present, where plaques are found and how severe the blockages are. It’s almost like a non-invasive heart cath.
The coronary calcium CT scan calculates a numerical score that summarizes the total amount of detected coronary artery calcium. The score can be combined with a patient’s medical history to estimate risk of heart attack in the future. This will give you an idea of what you probably have.
What makes the cardiac CT angiogram scan the better scan?
The cardiac CT angiogram scan not only shows you where your blockages are and how severe they are in just seconds, but also detects disease that other tests may miss.
