About Lindsay McGeady, APRN-CNP
Lindsay McGeady, APRN-CNP, specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic (CVT) surgery at Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI). Her professional areas of interest include cardiac critical care and surgery and emergency department/trauma.
Lindsay’s drive to pursue a profession in medicine began when she was young. She said, “I grew up with two neighbor boys with disabilities who were like family. My sister and I would frequently help to take care of them as their disease progressed. They unfortunately passed away while we were young which left an even stronger impact on the difference one can make in such a short period of time.”
Lindsay chose to specialize in CVT surgery after gaining several years of experience in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU). “My background as a nurse was CVICU so I have become very familiar with cardiac surgery that way,” she said. “I have always found cardiac medicine/surgery fascinating with all the intricacies of it and even more so the surgeries available now to fix so many common problems that can improve patients' quality of life!”
As Lindsay works to improve the health of her patients and to get to know everyone as individuals, she makes sure to take the time to listen to their concerns, comments and suggestions. Lindsay also reminds her patients that, “mindset and a positive attitude go a long way to improve quality of life.”
Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys walking her dogs with her husband, mountain biking, riding horses, hiking, skiing and traveling/exploring.
