Venous disease treatment

Varicose veins, often visible as twisted, enlarged veins near the surface of the skin, typically occur in the legs. They develop when the valves in the veins, which help regulate blood flow, become weak or damaged. This causes blood to pool, leading to the swollen, bulging appearance of varicose veins. Common symptoms include aching pain, heaviness, swelling, and skin discoloration around the affected veins.

Although they can be a cosmetic concern, untreated varicose veins can lead to more serious conditions such as venous disease, including chronic venous insufficiency and venous ulcers. Vascular surgery plays a critical role in the treatment of varicose veins and other venous diseases. This specialized field of surgery focuses on the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system. Surgical interventions for varicose veins may include vein stripping, endovenous laser therapy (EVLT), and sclerotherapy, all aimed at improving blood flow and reducing symptoms.

Advanced techniques and minimally invasive procedures have significantly enhanced patient outcomes, reducing recovery times and improving quality of life. If you suffer from varicose veins or other venous conditions, consulting a vascular specialist can help you explore the best treatment options tailored to your needs.
