About Alexandria Ingram, APRN-CNP
Alexandria Ingram, APRN-CNP, specializes in endocrinology at Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI).
“I was inspired to go into the health care field by my personal experiences as a young child with congenital cataracts,” Alexandria said. “I had to have several surgeries, and I keenly remembered my health care team making such a profound impact. The experience left a lasting impression on me and inspired my desire to provide the same level of care and compassion.”
Alexandria’s journey into endocrinology began while originally focusing on women’s health. She said, “I had the opportunity to transition into maternal-fetal medicine, where I focused primarily on diabetes care during pregnancy,” she explained. “That experience deepened my understanding of diabetes, chronic disease and other endocrine disorders; this ultimately sparked my desire to specialize in endocrinology. My passion for this field also has a personal connection, as my mother lives with diabetes.”
Alexandria values patient experience and believes that meeting people where they are is essential. She said, “I have a saying that the patient is the captain, and I am their ‘first-mate’; a part of the crew, working collaboratively to help reach patient health care goals.”
Alexandria’s most important advice to her patients is to, “Feel empowered to advocate for yourself, and if you don’t know, please ask.”
When Alexandria isn’t working, she enjoys baking, exploring new hobbies, spending time with her husband, two children and their two dogs.
