About Amanda Burch, DNP
Amanda Burch, DNP, APRN-CNS, specializes in electrophysiology at Oklahoma Heart Institute.
Amanda was inspired to seek out a career in medicine because it allowed her to fulfill her desire to help people in their daily lives. She said, “During my undergrad sciences, I became fascinated by the heart. After learning that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women, I knew I wanted to seek an advanced degree so that I could positively impact patient's lives, especially those with heart disease.”
Amanda chose to specialize in cardiology and specifically electrophysiology because she said it is an intellectually challenging field that uses anatomy, physiology and pathology in daily practice.
When it comes to building relationships with her patients, she said there are many ways to connect with individuals. One that she prioritizes is actively listening to each person. Doing so, she said, helps build trusting relationships and brings comfort, allowing patients to voice their concerns and questions. She adds, “Having a trusting relationship with patients enables me to provide high-quality care that will result in improved patient outcomes.”
Amanda’s day-to-day advice to patients is to take time for self-care, eat healthy, exercise when you can, laugh often and listen to your body.
When Amanda isn’t working, her hobbies include spending time with her family, watching her kids play sports, going to the beach and being outdoors.
