About Keziah Aibangbee, M.D.
Keziah E. Aibangbee, M.D., specializes in sleep medicine at Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI). Her professional areas of interest include the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders, patient education, preventive care, and improving quality of life by helping patients achieve better sleep and overall well-being.
Dr. Aibangbee was inspired to specialize in sleep medicine after seeing the profound impact of sleep disorders on cardiometabolic health as well as overall well-being. She said, “I find it deeply fulfilling to help patients with a wide range of sleep problems, knowing that restoring healthy sleep not only improves quality of life but also prevents long-term health complications.”
“Patients may not expect how much we focus on understanding their full lifestyle and daily routines, not just their symptoms. Every visit includes a discussion about sleep habits, overall health and how different factors may be affecting their well-being. This holistic approach helps us create personalized care plans that make a real difference in their quality of life,” said Dr. Aibangbee.
Dr. Aibangbee values the relationships with her patients, which is why she prioritizes building on them by listening carefully, showing empathy and treating each patient as she would want her own family to be treated. She said, “I take the time to understand their concerns, answer questions thoroughly and involve them in decisions about their care. By creating a trusting and supportive environment, I help patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their health journey.”
“My favorite advice to give patients is to prioritize sleep and self-care. Healthy sleep affects almost every part of your body and mind, from heart health to mood and energy levels. Small, consistent changes in daily habits can make a big difference in overall well-being, and I encourage patients to take an active role in caring for themselves,” said Dr. Aibangbee.
Dr. Aibangbee’s journey into health care began at an early age and has always been a part of her life. She grew up next to a hospital and was surrounded by a family of physicians. Medicine becoming her career was a natural fit. “Inspired by my father, I developed a deep passion for helping people through their most vulnerable moments. I believe in listening, empathizing and providing the same compassionate care I would want for my own family. Medicine gives me the unique opportunity to connect with people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, helping to restore their health and improve their quality of life,” said Dr. Aibangbee.
When Dr. Aibangbee isn’t providing care, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring nature, staying active and traveling. She adds, “I also value spending quality time with family and friends, which helps me recharge and maintain balance.”
