Specialty

Jesilynne Postier, APRN-CNP, specializes in cardiology at Oklahoma Heart Institute. Her main professional area of interest consists of structural heart care.

When asked about why she wanted to pursue a career in health care, Jesilynne said, “My inspiration for going into medicine began when I started working as a nurse tech on the cardiac interventional unit at Oklahoma Heart Institute. It was my first job in the hospital in 2017 and I had been deciding on whether or not to apply to nursing school. As a tech, I encountered so many clinical interactions between nurses, patients, doctors and nurse practitioners. I absorbed all of the knowledge I could by asking questions and learning more about different roles in the hospital. There was one specific nurse practitioner that inspired me. Her patients loved her, and she made a difference in each and every one of their lives. I aspired to impact my patients’ lives like her, and so I continued my education to become a nurse practitioner.”

Jesilynne decided to specialize in cardiology because she said it has always been her passion and just made sense. She adds, “It's where I started out as a tech and continued to work as a registered nurse and will continue to work as a nurse practitioner. Every organ serves a major function for the body, but the heart is my favorite. I have enjoyed taking care of the most complex patients. When a patient comes in and they don't have the best prognosis, getting to see them recover and discharge is truly miraculous. And the best part is being a part of the process!”

Jesilynne understands that building relationships with patients is important to providing excellent care. Being an active listener, listening to specific needs and understanding patient’s wants are key factors for success.

Advice that Jesilynne likes to remind and share with patients is to, “focus on what you can control.”

Jesilynne’s education and career experience include:
     • Master of Science degree in nursing (MSN) from the University of South Alabama, 2023
     • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK, 2021
     • Associate degree in nursing (RN) at Tulsa Community College in Tulsa, OK, 2018
     • Associate degree at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, OK, 2015

When Jesilynne isn’t at work, she enjoys hiking, fishing, cycling, weight training and spending time with family and two pups.
