About Marilyn Culp, M.D.
Before studying and practicing sleep medicine, Dr. Culp spent over two decades as a family medicine doctor. She said, “After practicing family medicine for over 25 years, I wanted to learn more about the neurobiology of sleep and about breathing and movement disorders of sleep so that I could use these skills to help my patients. To learn these skills, I spent a year serving a fellowship in sleep medicine with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.”
After several years’ experience practicing family medicine, she says one of her specialties is being able to listen to patients’ concerns and then being able to address, diagnose and treat them. Dr. Culp said, “Patients like to know that they have been heard and that their concerns have been validated and considered in their treatment plan. Patients put their trust in me as their advocate and I have always felt this to be what it means to have the privilege of practicing medicine.”
When Dr. Culp isn’t working with patients, she can be found gardening, swimming, baking, cake decorating and making candy. She and her husband of more than 30 years are proud of their two sons, the families they’ve built and their careers. “Our grandchildren are the love of my life,” she said.

I was amazed at how detailed Dr. Culp was at explaining sleep apnea to me. I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea before, but never had I been explained in such detail the extent of the disease or the effects from the disease. I feel much more knowledgeable about sleep apnea than I ever have.
