Michelle Green, PA-C, specializes in endocrinology at Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI). “I started my career in general internal medicine and this is where I developed my passion for chronic disease management. Endocrinology quickly became my specific area of interest as well as lipid management. I’m excited by what I do every day,” she said.
Michelle has always known she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She knew she could combine her passion for connecting with people along with her interests in science to create a positive impact on the lives of others. Now, working in the field of endocrinology, Michelle says she enjoys the management of diabetes and diabetes technology.
When it comes to her patients, Michelle makes sure to prioritize building a good relationship. “I always take the time to get to know my patients. It’s what I enjoy the most about what I do,” she said. “The connections I build with my patients make me a stronger health care provider.”
Michelle wants patients to know that when you come in for your appointment, she takes the time to explain conditions, tests and treatments. Her five years of experience in general internal medicine, prior to coming to working at OHI, really taught her that if you are not understanding what she’s talking about, ask more questions. “It is important to ask questions and stay informed about your health and health care. If something doesn’t add up or make sense to you, it’s OK to question it,” she said.
Michelle’s education includes:
• Master’s degree in physician assistant studies at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa (OU-Tulsa), 2016
• Bachelor of Science in biology degree at Northeastern State University (NSU) in Broken Arrow, 2013
Outside of working at OHI, Michelle likes to play tennis, travel, read and spend time with her family.
